Sinatra Leaves Hospital After 8-Day Stay

Frank Sinatra was discharged Saturday from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where he had been admitted eight days ago for what his publicist said was a pinched nerve.

“He is very happy to be home and again thanks everyone throughout the world for the wonderful get-well wishes he has been receiving,” said Susan Reynolds, Sinatra’s spokeswoman.

Reynolds declined to comment on Sinatra’s medical condition, saying that she was honoring the entertainer’s wishes.

Sinatra, who turns 81 on Dec. 12, received an outpouring of get-well wishes from fans around the world. Many brought flowers and cards to the hospital.

Sinatra, who has homes in Beverly Hills and Malibu, was admitted to the hospital Nov. 1. Reynolds would not say which home he returned to Saturday.

Last Saturday, Cedars-Sinai spokesman Ron Wise said that the legendary entertainer could be released as early as last Sunday.

Sinatra’s continued stay through the week fueled speculation that his condition was more serious.

Sinatra, a native of Hoboken, N.J., was to have been honored today in his hometown with the unveiling of a sidewalk plaque in front of the remains of his birthplace.

Only a brick wall, a wooden door and a brick-and-stucco arch remains of the house where he was born.
