Session Helps Parents Teach Study Skills
Los Alamitos Unified School District’s PTA Council will host the parent-education program “Learning and Study Skills: What It Takes To Get Ahead and Stay Ahead” from 7 to 9 p.m. Dec. 4.
Betty Kurkjian, director of the Long Beach-based Learning Achievement Center, will lead the session to help parents teach their children good study habits for home and school, organizers said.
The program will be in the multipurpose room at Oak Middle School, 10821 Oak St. Child care during the session for students in kindergarten through eighth grade will be provided at the Los Alamitos Youth Center next to the campus.
Sign-up sheets for child care will be sent home to parents before the event.
The program is the first of a two-part series on parent education offered by the district’s PTA Council. The next program is scheduled for March 5.
