Teen Gunfire Suspect Pleads Not Guilty

A 13-year-old Moorpark girl accused of shooting at schoolmates with her father’s gun pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges of attempted murder, Deputy Dist. Atty. Randy Thomas said.
Thomas said the girl denied committing two counts each of attempted murder and assault with a firearm. Witnesses said she opened fire on groups of teenagers near the Le Club Apartments complex Monday afternoon. No one was hurt in the shooting.
She also is charged with resisting arrest because deputies said they chased her across an arroyo and into bushes before taking her into custody shortly after the shooting.
The girl is being held in Ventura County Juvenile Hall in Ventura pending a Dec. 9 pretrial hearing and a Dec. 16 trial, both in Juvenile Court in Ventura.
