New Mexico Police Arrest Fugitive Sought in Killing of Pregnant Girlfriend
New Mexico state police have arrested a Long Beach fugitive accused of fatally shooting his pregnant 17-year-old girlfriend.
Robert Charles Thomas, 25, was taken into custody Tuesday in Truth or Consequences, N.M., on drug and firearm charges. He gave police there an apparent alias--Elijah Johnson--but a fingerprint check turned up his California charges.
Long Beach police said Thomas will soon be extradited to California, where prosecutors have filed two counts of murder against him for the July 18 deaths of Angel Monique Johnson and her three-month fetus.
