View Tech Reports 218% Rise in Quarter Revenues
View Tech Inc. in Camarillo, which specializes in video communications systems, announced that revenues for the first quarter that ended Sept. 30 increased 218% to $5.36 million, compared with revenues of $1.68 million for the same period in 1995.
During the quarter, expenses related to the continued expansion of the company’s sales and service operations contributed to a loss of $74,343 or 3 cents per share. This compares with a loss of $155,351 or 5 cents per share for the same period last year.
To further support its growth strategy, in the past year the company doubled its sales and marketing, technical and administrative staffs to 64 people. The company also expanded to 13 offices, from eight last year.
As a result of the expansion, expenses this period increased 106% to $1.71 million from a year ago.
During the quarter, View Tech completed two acquisitions--VistaTel International Inc. and GroupNet Inc.--enabling the company to increase its sales territory to include Florida, Connecticut, Delaware, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Maine, Massachusetts and Vermont.
In addition, the company filed a registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission involving the common shares to be issued in the proposed merger with Boston-based USTeleCenters Inc.
If the merger is approved by shareholders, View Tech will exchange approximately 2.5 million shares of its common stock for all of the outstanding shares of UST common stock.
