Courts to Dispense Forms by Computer

The Ventura County Superior and Municipal courts are expanding their public services by adding a new computer kiosk that will prepare small claims and family law forms such as divorce petitions and forms for legal separation.
The kiosk will be available starting Monday and will be in the law library on the first floor of the Ventura courthouse.
Called QuickCourt, the system features a multimedia touch screen that allows defendants or petitioners to request forms by pressing on the computer screen. The forms will be prepared by an internal laser printer and made immediately ready for filing.
The cost of processing the forms will range from $30 for a dissolution of marriage to $10 for a small claims form. Payment can be made at the kiosk using cash, a credit card or an ATM card.
The hours of operation will be 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
The courts plan to expand the kiosk system in February to include probate, name change and unlawful detainer forms. Court administrators also plan to add more kiosks next year.
