Football Playoffs Stay Close to Home
Orange County football fans won’t have to go far to follow their favorite teams in this weekend’s Southern Section semifinal games.
Five of the six games involving county teams will be played locally. The exception is in Division X, where second-seeded Orange Lutheran plays third-seeded Ventura St. Bonaventure Saturday at Ventura High.
Divisions V and VIII each feature two games involving local teams. Fourth-seeded Newport Harbor plays top-seeded Servite Friday at Cal State Fullerton in one Division V matchup, and second-seeded Santa Margarita plays at third-seeded Tustin Saturday.
Top-seeded Aliso Niguel hosts fourth-seeded West Covina South Hills on Friday in Division VIII, and Pacifica hosts second-seeded Rancho Alamitos at 7 p.m. Saturday at Bolsa Grande High.
Mater Dei, seeded No. 1 in Division I, hosts Long Beach Poly Friday at Santa Ana Stadium.
Games, unless otherwise noted, are scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
