Howard, Southern Took Hard Road

Howard plays Southern today in the Heritage Bowl, and a victory would go a long way toward erasing the memory of last season, when the Bison finished 6-5 after losing quarterback Ted “Sweet Flight” White for half the season because of a lacerated kidney.

This year, White completed 62% of his passes for 2,814 yards and 36 touchdowns for Howard (9-2), which won the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. Southern (7-4) won the Southwestern Athletic Conference despite projected starters being declared academically ineligible before the season.
