SWIMMING

With all the club swimmers finished with junior nationals, the swimming season hits high gear. A good matchup will be Irvine versus Laguna Hills in a nonleague meet Friday at the Heritage Aquatic Complex in Irvine. Olympian Amanda Beard will be leading the Vaqueros against a Laguna Hills team that has some very good swimmers, including freshman Shauna Barnard. Mission Viejo will travel to Palos Verdes Peninsula on Friday to face a good boys’ and girls’ team, but the Diablos should have no problem with this meet. The Canyon Relays start Friday at 3 p.m. at Canyon High.
