Pagnozzi Goes Back on Disabled List

St. Louis Cardinals catcher Tom Pagnozzi, who came off the disabled list for the first time this season on Friday, is back on it.

Pagnozzi tore a right groin muscle chasing a wild pitch by Todd Stottlemyre in the second inning of Tuesday’s 9-7 victory over San Francisco. He was put on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday.

To replace him, catcher Mike Difelice was recalled from Louisville.

Jason Isringhausen continued to undergo tests for a third day as the New York Mets remained concerned over the condition of the 24-year-old pitcher.

Isringhausen, rehabilitating a broken right wrist, returned from Florida on Sunday after experiencing chest pain and difficulty breathing and going to a hospital emergency room. X-rays of his chest reportedly revealed a spot or mass, causing doctors to order further tests.

Isringhausen was seeing a number of medical consultants headed by Dr. John Olichney, the Mets internist. The team would not reveal the nature of the tests after initial chest X-rays revealed an irregularity.

Jake Remington, the San Diego Padre farmhand who was injured in a batting practice accident, was transferred from a Bakersfield hospital Wednesday afternoon to San Diego to be checked by a neurosurgeon.

Remington, a pitcher for the Class A Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, will need reconstructive facial surgery after receiving multiple fractures of the skull and nose when hit by a ball during batting practice Monday night.
