Two dozen Whittier Elementary School students went on a shopping spree recently and spent $500 on new books for the library.
The money was a gift from Helen Feinberg, whose husband, Charles, was a volunteer at the school on the west side of Costa Mesa.
The books will be added to the library’s collection, known as the Charles Feinberg collection, which was established by the Feinberg family.
Whittier Principal Juan de Jesus said he continues to be grateful for the support the family has shown over the years.
“Because of Whittier’s large population and the district’s emphasis on independent reading, Whittier’s library is in constant need of additional books,” de Jesus said.
