VENTURA — A man was stabbed several times during an apparent robbery attempt Sunday night at a used-car lot.
Police say the attack occurred at 9:15 p.m. at Afternoon Motors, 2440 E. Thompson Blvd., at South Evergreen Drive. The unidentified man, who authorities said may live in a motor home on the premises, called police to say that he had been stabbed by two white men in their early 20s.
The assault took place at the back of the lot, which runs along Evergreen, Ventura Police Sgt. Bill Bogner said.
Blood stains on the sidewalk marked the path where the man ran from his attackers north on Evergreen, then doubled back to the car lot office once he realized that they were gone.
The man, stabbed three times in the chest and arm, was taken to a local hospital. Bogner said the wounds were serious.
The suspects, both described as 5 feet, 7 inches and 150 pounds, were wearing dark beanie caps and dark sweatshirts. The man with the knife was wearing dark pants, while the second man had light pants. They were last seen running east.
