Long Ball Catches Royal Short

Jarred Edroslan pitched a three-hitter, and Joey Hamer and Josh Block hit solo home runs to lift Newbury Park High to a 3-1 victory over Marmonte League-leading Royal on Wednesday at Royal.
The Highlanders (13-6, 9-2 in league play) had a seven-game winning streak ended but remained half a game ahead of Camarillo, which lost to Westlake, 10-5.
Hamer’s home run leading off the seventh broke a 1-1 tie. Chris Thorgerson added a run-scoring double two outs later.
Simi Valley 13, Channel Islands 2--Al Rodriguez (2-1) pitched a four-hitter for the Pioneers (14-9, 6-5), striking out four in a Marmonte League game.
Rodriguez hit a sixth-inning grand slam in his first at-bat of the season. Andrew Gerber and Brett Scott also homered for Simi Valley.
Andy Karp drove in three runs with three hits, including a two-run double, and Scott Vermette had two doubles for Simi Valley.
The Raiders are 9-12, 2-9.
Agoura 7, Thousand Oaks 6--David Turner’s pitching and hitting paced the Chargers (10-11, 5-6) in a Marmonte League game at Thousand Oaks.
Turner (6-5), a senior right-hander, struck out five in five innings. He had three hits and three RBIs. Turner had a two-run double during a four-run first inning and a run-scoring single in a three-run second.
Chris Poling added two hits and stole his 19th and 20th bases.
Billy Lockin was three for three with a sacrifice fly for Thousand Oaks (10-12, 3-8).
Highland 8, Littlerock 4--Danny Galvan continued his hitting tear for the Bulldogs (9-13, 5-5) with two hits, including a three-run home run, and four RBIs in a Golden League game at Highland.
Galvan is 14 for 29 with five home runs and four doubles in his past nine games.
Palmdale 8, Quartz Hill 5--Jason Gorman had three hits, drove in two runs and scored twice for the Falcons (17-5, 7-3) in a Golden League game at Palmdale.
Manny Yanas hit a three-run home run in the third for Palmdale and freshman Matt Harrington scattered seven hits and struck out seven in six innings.
Jo’Sean Lyles had three hits for the Rebels (11-9, 3-7).
Grace Brethren 12, Delphi 4--Freshman Tim Thompson (6-1) pitched a four-hitter with nine strikeouts and Chris Delaplane was three for three for the Lancers (14-2) at Delphi Academy.
