The notion that “Titanic” will be the third-biggest film of the summer is not only unfounded but preposterous (“Space Jammed,” by Jack Mathews, May 11). Even if it opens on July 2, I doubt that it will make it anywhere near the Top 10. In fact, I found Mathews’ list to be a very unlikely possibility.
Summer will most likely shape up like this: 1--”The Lost World” (our only agreement); 2--”Hercules”; 3--”Air Force One”; 4--”Men in Black”; 5--”Batman and Robin”; 6--”Contact” (the sleeper of the summer, could replace either “Men in Black” or “Batman”).
As for the potential flops: “Con Air.’ “Speed 2.” “Titanic” (I hope it hits but it seems unlikely).
