Long Beach State Eliminated by Fresno

The Long Beach State softball team was eliminated from the NCAA Division I Regionals Saturday night when the 49ers lost their second game of the day, 3-1, to Fresno State.
In the first game, Nina Lindenberg tripled in two runs to break a 2-2 tie in the top of the 10th and then scored on an ensuing flyout to lead top-seeded Fresno State (51-12) to the 5-2 win.
Third-seeded Long Beach State (44-19-1) had runners on first and second with two outs in the bottom of the 10th, but failed to score.
The 49ers scored on an error in the bottom of the seventh to tie the score, 2-2. The 49ers continued to threaten with runners on second and third with two outs, but Deidra Oliver popped up to the catcher to end the rally and send the game into extra innings.
