David Gardiner, leader of the Environmental Protection Agency’s effort to link environmental protection with economic progress, will be the featured speaker Monday night during a presentation at the Thousand Oaks Library.
Sponsored by the World Affairs Council of Ventura County, Gardiner’s presentation, “A Clean Environment and a Healthy Economy: Can We have Both?” will run from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
It will focus on how communities across the country are managing to have both a clean environment and a healthy economy, and how other communities cope with deep divisions and opposing views yet still find ways to collaborate and focus on issues rather than personalities.
There will also be a panel discussion and a question-and-answer period. Included on the panel will be Carla Bard, executive director of the Environmental Defense Center; Rex Laird, executive director of the Ventura County Farm Bureau; Don Brackenbush, president of Ahmanson Land Co.; Marv King, Proctor and Gamble’s environmental manager; and Marcia Secord of The Gas Co.
The Thousand Oaks Library is at 1401 East Janss Road.
The program is free and open to the public, but reservations are necessary to guarantee seating space.
