A 31-year-old Simi Valley man was arrested this week on suspicion of drunk driving and felony hit and run after allegedly running into a woman as she was walking in an intersection in Moorpark, authorities said.
Rosalino Rodriguez was heading south on Moorpark Avenue about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday when he drove past cars that had stopped at 3rd Street, striking 59-year-old Maria Tamoyo, said Ventura County Sheriff’s Deputy Carl Patterson.
Rodriguez did not stop and was pulled over moments later, after running a red light in front of a sheriff’s deputy, Patterson said. Authorities said witnesses identified Rodriguez as the man who hit Tamoyo.
He was booked into the East Valley Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail and was later released.
Tamoyo was treated at Simi Valley Hospital, Patterson said.
