Fighting Dies Down; Airlift Set to End

Civilians emerged from hiding in the capital, Brazzaville, after a cease-fire diminished fighting between government troops and militiamen. A committee formed to enforce the 2-day-old truce called on warring factions to turn in their weapons and guarantee security for aid agencies. France, which has been airlifting foreigners from the city, announced plans to end its rescue mission Sunday evening and begin pulling out 1,200 French soldiers.
