Oceans Group Kicks Off Campaign Against Pollution
Wipeout, Dude!
That was the message that the American Oceans Campaign tried to get across Wednesday when it launched a public education program in Santa Monica showing that slick oil and chemicals dumped in storm drains are more likely cause surfers to fall off their boards than errors in balance.
The organization plans to air two television commercials to draw attention to the dangers of polluted beach water. The spots also encourage viewers to support federal and state legislation that would establish uniform standards for safe beach water.
