Second Forum on LAX Expansion Scheduled
Heated discussion of Los Angeles International Airport expansion plans at a recent public meeting has prompted officials to schedule a second forum, officials said Tuesday.
The Westchester/Playa del Rey Town Hall, in coordination with Los Angeles City Councilwoman Ruth Galanter and officials from Redondo Beach, El Segundo and the Los Angeles Unified School District, will host a public discussion at 7 p.m. Thursday about the airport’s plan to nearly double its capacity from 51 million to 98 million passengers annually by 2015.
The meeting will be held at the Westchester Christian Church, 8740 La Tijera Blvd.
Judith Ciancimino, a Westchester resident, said more than 200 people attended a similar meeting in July.
“Residents of this area in general are not interested in LAX doubling in size,” she said.
