Nearly 1,000 people are expected to attend a Christmas tree lighting ceremony at an El Sereno youth center Thursday.
The tree lighting is set for 6 p.m. at the El Sereno Youth Development Corp., which offers classes, activities and services to more than 500 young people. The center’s members regularly participate in community cleanups, tree plantings and graffiti removal, organizers said.
“Both the Youth Corp. and the community have been hard at work in making El Sereno an even better community,” City Councilman Richard Alatorre said, “and this is our way of showing our appreciation and celebrating the holiday spirit.”
