Ballot Fraud Investigation

* After months of research, the state says 2,474 suspected noncitizens likely voted in our recent election (Dec. 11).

Instead of being appalled by this number and its significance to a fair election, Democrats continue their defense that nothing significant happened.

I am appalled at comments such as: “It simply shows 98% of the district’s 106,000 voters were beyond reproach,” by an aide to Rep. Loretta Sanchez (D-Garden Grove); “It means nothing,” by Fred Woocher, a Sanchez lawyer; “Nothing more than the dog that didn’t bark,” by Connecticut Democrat Rep. Sam Gejdenson.

How dare they not be concerned that my legal vote was canceled by a person who voted illegally. More than ever before, the citizens of our county should insist this investigation continue until the full truth is revealed so that we can learn how such a tragedy can be averted in the future.

* So California Secretary of State Bill Jones and Rep. William M. Thomas (R-Bakersfield) have a secret list of 2,474 names.

These people may or may not be citizens, may or may not have voted for Sanchez rather than for Robert K. Dornan, may even be confused with someone else with the same or a similar name.

Guess what. I can do the same thing without taking a whole year to do it or costing the taxpayers a penny--just by looking in my phone book!

* A story and a column on Dec. 5 strike an interesting juxtaposition and perhaps illustrate the reason that a growing number of Americans question the fairness of our institutions.

Dana Parsons’ column discusses the rather chilling effect of the Dornan-Sanchez congressional investigation on the future ability of new citizens to vote. It’s interesting that most of the high-minded Republican officeholders are continuing this nonsense and are insisting that fairness and principles of law be maintained to the zenith.

Now have a look at the story “Carmony Pleads Guilty in Baugh Campaign Case.” Another bunch of high-minded Republicans got together to play a few dirty tricks in a local election and in the process broke a few “minor laws.”

And what does the ringleader, Rhonda Carmony, get for pleading guilty? A slap on the wrist. The only interesting part of this whole episode is the universal cast of characters: Assemblyman Scott Baugh (R-Huntington Beach), Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-Huntington Beach), Dist. Atty. Michael R. Capizzi.

Don’t you just love it when the Republicans are fighting among themselves. It’s akin to one of the basic laws of nature when the herd thins itself to preserve the species.

* Banana republics’ election laws pale in comparison to the Orange County Grand Jury’s indifference to admitted and documented noncitizen voting.

* Who would have thought it? Big-mouth Bob Dornan was right all along! Apparently there was some law-breaking and illegal activity in the election process.

There was illegal voting; there was falsification of nominating papers; there were allegations of conspiracy, and the dust has not yet settled on some of the major players in the election wrongdoing.

So far, four people have pleaded guilty for their various illegal election activities. Assemblyman Scott Baugh (R-Huntington Beach) and decoy candidate Laurie Campbell have yet to have their legal problems settled.

For once, Bob really got it right. Unfortunately for Bob, all those criminal and alleged criminal activities were not attributed to Hermandad Mexicana Nacional, the Democratic Party, those pesky immigrants or Rep. Loretta Sanchez (D-Garden Grove), but to his very own Republican Party.

Poor Bob, thrown out of office, not allowed on the floor of the House of Representatives for his bad manners and now, barking up the wrong political tree--talk about three strikes and you’re out!
