TECHNO RULES
Why are rock critics so afraid of electronic music (“What in the World Happened to Techno?” by Robert Hilburn, Dec. 21)? And how many more articles will The Times publish about how greedy music weasels will or won’t endorse electronic music as the next big thing?
Who cares whether “Amp” will get a better time slot or what MTV is planning to do. No one who is a fan of electronic music watches MTV anyway. Most electronic music has never had much in common with three-note rock music. It’s about conjuring emotions through instrumental music. It’s about exploring an empty canvas.
