Balanced Offense Keeps Birmingham Unbeaten

Scott Doherty completed 11 of 18 passes for 216 and three touchdowns to lead Birmingham to a 42-20 victory over Granada Hills Thursday night in a Northwest Valley Conference game at Birmingham.
Emmanuel Evans, the leading City Section rusher in the region, complemented the passing game by gaining 133 yards in 17 carries and scoring on runs of eight and 13 yards.
Doherty threw two touchdown passes to wide receiver Demetrus Patterson as Birmingham (5-0, 2-0) built a 42-7 halftime lead.
Jausten Thompson scored on a 10-yard run for Granada Hills and an 86-yard kickoff return after Birmingham’s Aaron Minor took the opening kickoff 78 yards for a touchdown.
