Council May Revoke Recycler’s Permit
A dispute with City Hall over potentially hazardous conditions may cause a recycler to lose the right to do business here.
The City Council tonight will consider revoking the conditional-use permit of D&J; Recycling, which is alleged to have violated a requirement that potentially combustible materials be covered with nonflammable tarp.
“We’re supportive of that type of business in the city,” said Community Development Director Mike Thiel. “But like any other business, it needs to be operated in a safe and orderly manner.”
D&J; owner John Leensvart contends that his paper bales and other material are not highly flammable and that no other recycler in the county is required to use a tarp.
The 7 p.m. meeting will be at City Hall, 25201 Paseo de Alicia, Suite 150. Information: (714) 707-2600.
