Newbury Park Wins by Rolling a Six
Jarred Edrosolan (2-2) allowed four hits over 6 1/3 innings, and Newbury Park High scored six runs in the second inning en route to a 6-2 Marmonte League baseball victory over Channel Islands on Wednesday at Newbury Park.
Ernie Carrasco slugged a two-run home run in the first inning for Channel Islands, but the Panthers (6-5, 2-3 in league play) got a two-run home run from Josh Block, a two-run single from Barry Tolli and a run-scoring single from Tyler Johnson in the second inning.
Johnson finished with two hits.
Edrosolan (2-2) struck out three and allowed two earned runs.
Jake Farrel got the final two outs, pitching out of a bases-loaded jam, to earn his first save.
Kilpatrick 15, Marshall 1--Juan Espitia hit a home run and a double to drive in five runs for the Mustangs, who registered their first victory of the season in an Alpha League game at Marshall.
Ricardo Ramirez and Anthony Torres also hit home runs for Kilpatrick (1-4, 1-0).
Daniel Soto (1-0) scattered four hits with five strikeouts in a game called after five innings because of the 10-run rule.
SOFTBALL
Santa Paula 10, Nordhoff 1--Carla Berumen had two hits, including a double, scored two runs and drove in two for the Cardinals (3-4, 3-1) in a Frontier League game at Nordhoff.
Tanya Lopez had a double and two RBIs, and Jessieka Mata added two hits and an RBI for Santa Paula.
Buena 4, Ventura 0--Erin Kelly (3-0) scattered six hits and Shannon Prentice had two hits and drove in a run for the Bulldogs (5-2, 4-0) in a Channel League game at Ventura.
Cassie Nicoletto had two hits for the Cougars (3-5, 1-3).
