Opera Pacific has hired a scouting firm to help recruit a general director, following Patrick Veitch’s abrupt departure from the post in December. The Costa Mesa-based company expects to have a new director in place by Labor Day, company spokesman George Sebastian said.
State Supt. of Public Instruction Delaine Eastin will discuss efforts to legislate comprehensive arts education in all California public schools on April 23 in Costa Mesa. Eastin, who will present recommendations from her Arts Task Force, will speak at 4 p.m. in the Orange County Performing Arts Center’s Founders Hall, 600 Town Center Drive. A reception at the Wyndham Garden Hotel, 3350 Avenue of the Arts, Costa Mesa, will follow at 5:30 p.m. Admission is $5 for the presentation, $25 for the talk and reception, both sponsored by Arts Orange County.
