Girl Hospitalized After Pileup on Freeway
A 5-year-old girl who was not wearing her seat belt suffered head injuries Thursday morning in a four-vehicle collision on the San Diego Freeway, police said.
Shortly after 10 a.m., police said, a southbound big-rig truck changing lanes triggered a chain reaction that sent a Chevy Astro with the Guenara family of Compton into the center divider just south of the Harbor Boulevard exit.
Sheila Guenara was admitted to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana with a head injury and a broken nose. She was in guarded condition, a hospital official said.
Her parents and two sisters were taken to Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center with minor cuts and later released, police said.
Three other people reportedly suffered minor injuries but were not hospitalized.
