Bank Robber Escapes in Getaway Car
A Wells Fargo bank in Santa Ana was robbed early Saturday afternoon by an unarmed man who demanded money from a teller and fled into a waiting getaway car, an FBI spokesman said.
The robber--described as Latino, age 25 to 35, with a medium build, dark hair and a goatee--walked up to a teller and told her, “This is a robbery.” Then he demanded money without showing a weapon or a note, said FBI spokesman Gary Morley.
Witnesses told investigators the robber wore a light sweatshirt and had no glasses or hat. He left with an undisclosed amount of cash and was last seen stepping into the passenger side of a brown Toyota Celica.
The car, about a 1980 model, had damage to the left front fender, Morley said.
