Comparing Scandals
In “On Special Prosecutors, Enough Is Enough” (Commentary, April 13), Charles Krauthammer compares Iran-Contra with the Clinton scandal. He exonerates the protagonists of the former, citing patriotic motives, while listing selfishness and the pursuit of power in condemning Bill Clinton.
The first criterion is a corollary of nihilism, the premise that the ends justify the means. That same premise would exonerate tyrants like Stalin and Hitler.
