Downtown San Diego Plugs In
San Diego is installing nine electric-vehicle chargers in its downtown area, making it the largest urban area in the nation to be “EV-ready,” according to a San Diego booster group.
“Downtown San Diego is thinking of the future, when no single fuel will dominate the vehicle of the driving public,” said Craig Irving, chairman of the Downtown San Diego Partnership.
The chargers, which recharge vehicles for free, are subsidized by the San Diego County Air Pollution Control District; Sempra Energy, the parent company of San Diego Gas & Electric; and General Motors.
The chargers will be located at the San Diego Convention Center, the County Administration building, San Diego International Airport and Wells Fargo Plaza.
