Fleck and Alfaro to Help Celebrate Getty Trust Funds’ Anniversary
John Fleck and Luis Alfaro will present an evening of performance art at 8 p.m. Aug. 28 at California Plaza to help commemorate the 10th anniversary of the California Community Foundation’s J. Paul Getty Trust Fund for the Visual Arts fellowships and Brody Arts Fund fellowships.
Fellowships are awarded to Los Angeles-based painters, sculptors, photographers, media artists, and visual and performance artists.
Fleck, a 1996 Getty Fellow, will perform a 30-minute piece while 1990 Brody Fellow Alfaro’s performance will feature lighting design by 1998 Brody Fellow Jose Lopez. The anniversary commemoration will also include an art exhibition by four Getty fellows at the Santa Monica Museum of Art beginning Oct. 9.
The plaza is at 350 S. Grand Ave., Los Angeles. Admission is free and the performances will be translated into American Sign Language.
