Big Surf, No Trouble Forecast for Danielle
Hurricane Danielle plowed across the Atlantic with top sustained winds of 75 mph and was not expected to threaten the Bahamas or the U.S. mainland. High waves were likely along the southern Atlantic coast during the weekend, probably prompting a surf advisory, forecasters at the National Hurricane Center in Miami said. Late in the afternoon, Danielle was centered about 220 miles northeast of San Salvador island in the Bahamas, moving northeast at nearly 10 mph. But it was expected to turn north. If it makes that turn, it will miss the U.S. coast entirely. Although following a course similar to the one taken by Hurricane Bonnie, Danielle was farther out to sea.
