Re “Fight for Peace on All Fronts,” Commentary, Aug. 26: Sandra Mackey rightly points out that--like any illness--terrorism is prevented by preventing its causes. Multiple standards, succumbing to lobbyism, and the painful fact that people do not behave normally under abnormal conditions are significant inciters of terrorism. Regrettably, we see much politics but hardly any statesmanship.

Mackey’s one-sided analysis of the Middle East correctly identifies Arab emasculation as the driving political force of the region, but leaves out one critical fact: As a cure, the Arabs don’t want peace with Israel; they want to crush it.
