1997 Weingut Robert Weil Riesling “Trocken,” Rheingau (About $15)
Not all German Rieslings are sweet. This trocken or dry Riesling from one of the Rheingau’s finest producers has a seductive, honeyed nose. But its taste is as crisp and refreshing as a bite of Asian pear, and it finishes with a bright acidity.
You can drink it as an aperitif, but it really shines with food, especially with anything that’s spicy. Wine people are always talking about how Riesling goes so well with Asian food. This is a wine that proves their point.
