Four Southland Teams Advance
Newport Harbor, Santa Margarita, Torrance Bishop Montgomery and Cerritos Valley Christian advanced to the girls’ state volleyball finals with victories Tuesday night in Southern California regional championship matches.
The Southern California champions will meet Northern California champions Saturday at Cypress College.
Newport Harbor advanced in Division I with a 15-9, 16-14, 15-7 victory over Huntington Beach Marina.
In Division II, Santa Margarita earned a spot in the final with a 15-2, 15-1, 8-15, 15-7 victory over La Jolla.
Bishop Montgomery dominated play and defeated North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake, 15-11, 15-7, 15-9, in Division III.
Defending state champion Cerritos Valley Christian advanced in Division IV with a 15-10, 15-3, 15-3 victory over Santa Ana Calvary Chapel.
San Diego Francis Parker defeated Pasadena Poly, 15-10, 15-5, 15-13, in Division V.
