VAN NUYS — Police have identified a 62-year-old man who died after his car crossed the center divider and collided with a truck.
Ramon Arias’ Ford Mustang crossed into oncoming traffic on Sherman Way between Varna and Woodman avenues at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday, police said. The driver of the United Parcel Service truck struck by the Mustang was unhurt, except for soreness in his knees.
Detectives with the Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Bureau said they still do not know why Arias crossed the divider but have ruled out alcohol.
“Either the guy fell asleep or maybe he had a heart problem,” LAPD Det. Jim Mann said. “We have no idea, we’re stumped.”
