Mother Denies Shooting Her 9-Month-Old Son
LAGUNA NIGUEL — A young mother has declared her innocence in the fatal shooting of her infant son.
In her first interview on the case, Shantae Molina, 20, said, “I would never do something sick like that to my baby.” Molina was flanked by her younger sister and other family members during an interview at her attorney’s office.
Molina’s 9-month-old son, Armani Shyloh Contreras, died after being shot in the head. Molina told her attorney that she was frightened after hearing what she thought was an intruder outside her home, picked up a gun and fired, hitting the baby accidentally.
She was arrested on suspicion of murder on Nov. 9, and is free on $250,000 bail.
