Eight Is Enough Time for Hariton, Calabasas

Spencer Hariton sank two free throws with eight seconds to play, giving Calabasas High a 65-63 victory over Taft in a nonleague boys’ basketball game Thursday at Calabasas.

Mike Goldman scored 14 of his 26 points in the fourth quarter for the Coyotes (6-5), who trailed at halftime, 33-28.

Hariton finished with 19 points, including two three-point baskets down the stretch, when the Coyotes twice overcame nine-point deficits.

Andy Maccalla grabbed 12 rebounds for Calabasas.

Ronald Gray scored 21 points for Taft (4-2).

Burroughs 54, New Westminster (Canada) 49--Carlos Coronado had 10 points and 11 rebounds for the Indians (6-2) in a pool play victory at the La Canada tournament.

Bell-Jeff 80, Downtown Business Magnet 63--Mike Yildiz scored 34 points on 12 of 16 shooting from the field for Bell-Jeff (3-2) in pool play of the Bell-Jeff tournament.

Yildiz, a 6-foot-1 junior guard who played for Grant last season, was five of six from three-point range and scored all of his points in the first 2 1/2 quarters.

Atascadero 58, Camarillo 53--Jonathan Bentley scored 24 points for Atascadero in a first-round game of the Arroyo Grande tournament.

Ryan Miyamoto scored five of his nine points in the fourth quarter for Camarillo (3-4).

Flintridge Prep 51, Oakwood 35--Charles Winters and Devin Brown each scored 12 points for host Flintridge Prep (4-2) in a nonleague game.

Winters scored all of his points in the second half and Brown made eight free throws in the fourth quarter.

The Rebels converted 17 of 22 free throws in the final quarter.

Antelope Valley Christian 75, Vasquez 68--Peter Beaudin had six of his 10 blocked shots in the fourth quarter after Antelope Valley Christian (5-2) switched to a full-court press while trailing, 58-50, in a Boron tournament consolation game.

Beaudin had 26 points and eight rebounds. Jamal Flanagan scored 10 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter and grabbed eight rebounds for Antelope Valley Christian.

Nordhoff 47, Rio Mesa 43--Andy Flores had 14 points for Nordhoff in a nonleague game at Rio Mesa.

Etienne Emanuel had eight points for Nordhoff (8-1), which committed 18 turnovers.
