A Woodland Hills couple has donated a view lot on Mulholland Drive to be preserved as open space by the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy.
Dr. and Mrs. Walter M. Kearns had owned the 8,577-square-foot lot for 16 years but recently abandoned plans to build on it, said Dawn De Vere, secretary to the conservancy’s board of directors.
The lot at 21073 Mulholland Drive had been offered for sale for $85,000 and was appraised at $87,500, De Vere said.
“The lot will be left undeveloped and will provide another space on Mulholland Drive that we can preserve as viewshed,” De Vere said.
The conservancy, a state resources agency, maintains more than 35,000 acres of open land in the Santa Monica Mountains and surrounding mountain ecosystems.
