* The Big 8 Softball Complex at Lancaster City Park in Lancaster last week was selected the U.S. Specialty Sports Assn.’s sports complex of the year. The facility is the first on the West Coast to win the award since its inception in 1991.

* The Westlake High baseball coaching staff will stage a youth clinic Dec. 28-30 at the school. Sessions for players ages 8 to 15 run from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. each day. Information: (805) 480-0897.
