Fifteen women ages 17 to 24 will compete for more than $6,000 in scholarships and the title of Miss Placentia in the 1999 Miss Placentia Pageant, to take place at 7 p.m. Jan. 30 at Valencia High School, 500 N. Bradford Ave.

The winner will advance to the Miss California Pageant in June, which may lead to the Miss America Pageant in the fall. The local pageant, sponsored in part by the Chamber of Commerce, is accepting donations to the Miss Placentia scholarship fund. Information: (714) 297-3770.
