2 Held in Fatal Shooting, Wounding of 4 in Home
WALNUT PARK — Sheriff’s deputies detained two suspects Tuesday in the fatal shooting of one man and the wounding of four people who were fired at Monday through the open doorway of a Walnut Park home.
The suspects, who were not identified, were arrested after they barricaded themselves inside a house in the 8500 block of 1st Street, about three blocks from the shooting scene in an unincorporated area north of Watts. Crisis negotiators helped talk them out of the house without incident about 8:30 a.m., said Deputy Mark Bailey.
David Gutierrez, 18, was killed when several men fired an assault rifle through the door of his house in the 1900 block of East 88th Street. Another man and three women were wounded in the incident, which authorities suspect was gang-related, Bailey said.
