The Cal State Northridge women’s basketball team appears back on track, and not a moment too soon.
In their last game before Big Sky Conference play begins Dec. 30, the Matadors defeated Oral Roberts, 70-55, on Tuesday night in the first game of a doubleheader at home with the Northridge men’s team.
Oral Roberts (3-8) hung tough until the Matadors went on a 10-point run capped by two free throws by guard Edniesha Curry with 4:24 to play that gave Northridge a 63-50 lead.
Northridge (6-4) held the Golden Eagles to 11 points in the final 12 minutes.
It was the second victory in a row for Northridge following three consecutive losses.
“This was a good overall effort, just what we needed heading into conference,” Curry said.
Guard Tina Greer scored 19 points, 13 in the second half. Curry, fifth in the nation with a 23.1 scoring average, had 10 points, as did center Keisha Harris.
