Concerns that a hodgepodge of city signs may give visitors mixed messages have prompted interest in coming up with a uniform design.
Councilman Gary Adams raised the issue recently as the council was preparing to approve standing-pole and concrete-monument signs for Balboa Peninsula. Business owners say signs are needed to direct tourists to area attractions. A prototype of the proposed standing sign should be presented to the council in January.
