Long Beach Man, 21, Dies in Freeway Crash
An accident on the Orange Freeway took the life of a 21-year-old Long Beach man Thursday night, officials said.
The accident occurred about 6:25 p.m. when the young man, a U.S. Marine driving a black Toyota Corolla, drifted to the right from the northbound fast lane just north of Imperial Highway in Brea.
The car sideswiped a Jeep Cherokee in the next lane, said Mark Reeves, a spokesman for the California Highway Patrol, then continued across the freeway and struck a concrete divider bordering the right-hand shoulder.
The Long Beach man was pronounced dead at the scene, Reeves said. His identity was being withheld pending notification of his next of kin.
