FDX Corp.’s pilots union said it sent copies of its tentative labor accord with Federal Express to members for review and will mail ballots next week. Vote results will be known Feb. 4. The settlement, which would give FedEx’s 3,300 pilots a 17% raise over five years and improve flight schedules, could end a five-year dispute between the company and union.

* Kitty Hawk Inc., the world’s largest air-only freight carrier, plans to cut the work force of its American International Airways unit by 1,500 people, or 55%. AIA, which carries freight and operates charter flights for cruise lines and tour companies, will be an all-cargo contract airline when the cuts are completed at the end of 1999.
