What’s happening the next few weeks:

* At the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, “American Photographs: The First Century” will close Jan. 31. The exhibition features 160 works by familiar and unknown photographers that were recently acquired by the National Museum of American Art. On Jan. 15, the museum will open “An Artful Life: Margaret Mallory,” a previously unscheduled exhibition. On display will be some of the 80 works--including a Picasso drawing and paintings by Childe Hassam and William Merritt Chase--recently bequeathed to the museum by Mallory, who died Nov. 3. 1130 State St. Tuesdays through Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday evenings to 9; Sundays, noon to 5 p.m. Closed New Year’s Day. * The Ensemble Theatre Company presents “The End of the Day” by Jon Robin Baitz Feb. 5-March 7. Baitz’s comedy centers on a British doctor living in Los Angeles who plays an elaborate con to repay a debt to his gangster father-in-law. 914 Santa Barbara St. in the park behind the Playa Azul Restaurant.
