Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 87, Cal State Fullerton 84--Cal Poly overcame a 10-point halftime deficit and went on to hand Fullerton its fourth straight home loss--and eighth loss in 10 games--before 1,113 in Titan Gym. The teams share last place in the Big West’s Western Division with 2-6 records.
Cal Poly (9-11) made six of eight three-point shots in the second half while Fullerton struggled. The Titans (7-11) made only seven of 30 three-point shots, and three of those came in the final 19 seconds when the game was decided.
The biggest three-point shot of the night came with 1:38 left. Fullerton had cut the deficit to 77-75 on a basket by Ike Harmon, but Watende Favors’ shot turned back the challenge. Ross Ketcham added a pair of free throws for a seven-point Cal Poly lead with 46 seconds left.
Harmon led the Titans with 26 points, and Chris Dade had 20.
UC Santa Barbara 74, UC Irvine 66--The Gauchos took control early in the second half, going on a 20-6 run to take a 51-47 lead at Irvine. They led by as many 19 points before Irvine made a face-saving run.
Lamarr Parker scored nine of his 19 points in the final two minutes, as the Anteaters (7-11, 4-4 in the Big West Conference) got as close as 68-61 with a minute left. The Gauchos (7-11, 4-4) made 10 of 14 free throws in the last two minutes. Raymond Tutt was eight of 10 from the line during that stretch and finished with a team-high 20 points.
