Titans’ Game at Stanford Postponed
PALO ALTO — The opening game of the three-game baseball series between Cal State Fullerton and No. 1-ranked Stanford was postponed Saturday because of rain.
The game has been rescheduled as part of a doubleheader today beginning at 1 p.m., when weather conditions are expected to improve. The third game of the series is scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday.
Stanford is unbeaten in five games after sweeping a three-game series over Fresno State and twice beating Santa Clara. The Titans are 3-1 after winning two of three games over California and defeating Loyola Marymount Tuesday.
Erasmo Ramirez and Jon Smith are scheduled to pitch today for Fullerton with Benny Flores set for Monday.
Stanford’s scheduled starters today are Jeff Austin (1-0) and Brent Hoard (1-0). Chad Hutchinson, 2-0 with a 2.89 earned-run average, is scheduled to pitch Monday. Those three pitchers were 22-10 last season, when Stanford won the NCAA West Regional and finished with a 45-20 record.
